A great list! When I was a young child my father was a volunteer fireman in our rural town, often roused in the middle of the night to fight a blaze. As a single parent, he was forced to take me with him if my older sisters weren’t home. Many times I was bundled and put in the back seat of our car where I would remain through the fire fight. Those hours watching families huddled together, clutching a few belongings, if they were able to grab anything before their hurried escape, allowed me sleepless hours to contemplate what I would take in such a frantic situation. At home, I arranged my must-save items near my bedroom door and kept my ever-changing list on my bedside table should what we all fear occurred.
