A poet in the worst of times. Find your voice and use it to work through this — privately or on Medium. That is my advice — which may be worth nothing, but is heartfelt and genuine.

When I was writing about leaving our house, I thought about all the years there and all we’ve been through, good and bad — a lot of bad, actually. I realized I lost nine family members during that time — my father, step-mother, ex-husband, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, 2 aunts, and a great-aunt. And, there were so many other challenges that brought me to my knees. Looking back, I wonder how I survived. Perhaps that is why I could not sleep last night. It felt as though a parade of spirits was marching through my house.

Maybe my next poem should be about spirits on parade?

Hang in there. Cry, rest, walk in nature, write, work, stay busy. And, remember you have a Friend in Florida always willing to listen.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
