A witty but not unkind retort is always the best!

My issue is mired in my right brain/left brain conflict. My 40+ year career has revolved around various accounting positions, including my current bookkeeping business. That is who I have been for all these years. As I progress slowly, too slowly, away from that field, hoping to spend more time writing, paid or unpaid, I find it almost impossible to redefine myself, even to myself! And, the fact that I am not terribly keen on doing the promotional slogging necessary to turn my beloved pastime into a paid profession, makes the claim of being a writer seem all the more disingenuous. Ah, such a first world problem, right? I should be concentrating on saving our democracy, which is in true peril, or rescuing homeless pets and endangered polar bears or eliminating crime in my daughter’s homeland of Honduras, the murder capital of the world!
