Actually, he's not completely gone, though mostly.
One of the associate attorneys took his office. Then, one of the paralegals moved into the associate's old office. And, another paralegal moved into that paralegal's office, opening up an "office space" with no door. That is now his to use to finish up the last of his work, although he could really do it all from home. I think it serves more as a transition out the door.
I am at the stage you described - no tolerance for stupid or wasted time. Had an experience working at that office last night that may be deserving of a stand-alone story . . . Stay tuned.
