Allison, first, this was so funny. Second, I'm sorry you sleep through road trips and miss so much. I am a reluctant sleeper on trips. I have difficulty sleeping while upright and I want to see any possible accident befoe it happens. Why? Who knows. To prepare. To scream. To be awake for that "life flashes before your eyes" moment.
But, as a child growing up on the east coast of the U.S., we made a few trips to visit my father's mother in Chicago. Always road trips with my father behind the wheel. Until his passing, he swore that I always slept through Ohio. Every trip I would fall asleep as we entered the Buckeye State and wake up as we exit. Of course, that was back in the days before seatbelts when a thin mattress was laid down in the back of a station wagon. That was the kids' spot. The place to read, eat, dream, and sleep through Ohio.
