And, I tell my grandson and granddaughter the same. One day you won’t fight, you won’t annoy, you’ll acknowledge and appreciate the love you’ve always had for each other, the love that was hidden in the jealous folds of childhood. Eyes roll as they fail to imagine a future I hope will materialize from the deep fabric of their woven lives together.

Your story is the story of many siblings but, Michael, you wrote it in a voice that is yours alone, transforming it into a story that belongs beautifully and uniquely to you and to no one else. A lovely tribute to your sister, all siblings, and the mysteries of family.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
