And then, there was me, miserable with shingles and the accompanying pain. My doctor could only give me one 3-day prescription for hydrocodone at a time. Every three days, I had to make another appointment, let the doctor see I hadn’t become a drug addict during the previous 3 days, get another script, pay another co-pay, drive to the pharmacy because opioid prescriptions can’t be submitted electronically, wait in line to turn in the script, wait for an hour or more for the accumulation of just 3 days of pills, and wait in line to pay for the pills, all while scratching and nearly doubled over in pain. Yes, I know there is a serious problem with opioid addiction but surely there must be a better way to control it.
