As a young protesting hippy-type in 969 (I was 15), I detested this song. Still do. Saw Haggard in concert once. Worst concert ever. He was beyond rude. Fortunately, there were many others who performed that night, and, unlike Haggard, they were all gracious and fun.

But, in spite of Haggard and his song, I like this piece, Chris!
