Ben often has fasting blood work. He is diabetic so worries his blood sugar will go too low before he can eat although that has NEVER happened. It’s a big ordeal. Unlike poor you (sympathy), Jack, he is allowed to eat up to midnight. (Why do the fasting blood work rules vary between states?) He goes to sleep and wakes up at 11:45 to eat. (He never needs an alarm - when he has to get up at a particular time, he just tells himself to wake up at that time and he does. A blessing for me as I do not want to wake up and watch him eat at almost midnight!) In the morning, he packs an emergency bag of snacks and orange juice and we arrive at the blood lab as the door is unlocked so he will be the first patient of the day. As soon as he is done, he eats his snack and drinks his juice BEFORE we go to breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Every. Time.
