That is a long drive through desolate country. I made a similar journey at the age of 19 when I drove from Maine to Florida (1,497 miles) to start my new "adult" life. But, my drive was on highways and through towns. I had plenty of company on the road.

Thanks for this great response to the prompt. It brought back many of my own memories.
