Carol, this is a perfect response to my Morning Rituals Challenge! I love everything about this — your photos, your narrative, and the stunning poem.
I, too, am not an early morning person, preferring to wake up around 8 am after everyone else is hurriedly en route to wherever they are going. But, 8 am is still morning, just a later morning. When I started my bookkeeping business, I scheduled my clients so my workday started in the mid-morning. Alas, my newly adopted dogs are morning canines and have forced me to adjust to their biological clocks. To not do so, leads to messy mornings — if you know what I mean!
I gravitate to sunsets more than sunrises, too. But, what pleases me about your piece is that you admit to what you are missing by not waking early. You know there is a trade-off.
Your personal schedule fits you. How many people don’t have the opportunity to make the choice of being a morning or night person? How many drag themselves grumpily from bed to start their day too early for their sensibilities? I know I did it for far too many years. At least now, I am making the sacrifice for little beings that I love.
