Certainly not a professional photographer, I still enjoy it as a very fulfilling and captivating hobby. I am usually alone when I go on a photo search. Of course, I may be with my husband or others when a moment is perfect for a shot. However, my inspirational companion for photography is my 9-year-old granddaughter. She has no boundaries, no preconceived ideas of what makes a great photo or what is the best approach to a shot. She just shoots fearlessly, noticing what I can’t, don’t, or won’t see. What I think is a poor shot, she thinks is fun, plunging ahead like a dog after a ball, snapping shots from angles and in lighting that I consider unworthy of time or consideration. She often fails but when she doesn’t, she wins big. Some of her photos have shocked and amazed me. I want to be as fearless and carefree about creative photography as she is.
