Daybreak -
A fresh start
Or not.

Another day
Dragging forward
Yesterday
And all the days before —
Calendar baggage
Weighing down shoulders,
Burdening souls —
Problems not erased
By another rotation.

What can be done
When your spirit
Breaks
As the day
Breaks?
When each
Day is like
The others?

Take a problem,
Any problem,
From yesterday
Or the distant past —
Fix it today
If you can —
Solve it today
If possible.

Take steps,
Baby or giant,
To solutions,
Resolutions,
Compromises,
Completions.

And do the same tomorrow.

If not, let it go —
Like the darkness
Evaporating
In the daybreak.

Some things cannot be
Solved
Or
Resolved —
Some just
Are
Until
You
Choose
They won’t be
Anymore.

Then they
Dissolve
Like night
At daybreak.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
