Edgar is precious and like all of us, he simply needed to find his place in life.

Last year, we adopted a stray neighborhood cat that took a liking to us when we were on our dog walks. We began feeding him. He loved us and we loved him. He seemed like a perfect addition to our home. Alas, that was not the case. One of our cats did not like him and a peeing contest ensued — I was the one who lost that competition, spending a small fortune to have furniture cleaned!

Eventually, a neighbor adopted him and he is content and loved. We were not the right match for him or him for us. It’s sometimes difficult to accept that when you save an animal, you are simply at temporary shelter until that animal finds his/her true home.

Lynette, your story is delightful. I can’t wait to read what happens next!

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
