Fabulous! Brings back memories of Maine, where I resided for three of my teenage years while living with my stepmother. She was a big fan of country music — even did some producing herself and was the founder (or co-founder, not sure which) of the Down East Country Music Association, produced the DECMA newsletter and received the DECMA Country Music Pioneer Award in 1993. Maine country music artists like Betty Cody and Dick Curless dined at our home whenever they were nearby. We used to follow Doc & Chickie Williams of West Virginia whenever they toured Maine or Southeast Canada. Many a time, I climbed out of my stepmom’s Dodge van, bleary-eyed and wrinkled, in front of my school just in time for the morning bell, after spending three nights and two days on the road with Doc and Chickie and their band. Wow, haven’t thought of those days since my stepmom passed almost four years ago. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
