First, Erika, let me leave an editor's note that you went over the SnapShot's 500-words rule. But, I felt your story needed each word it had.
Both your words and your photos told the story of this incredibly confusing, convoluted, and capsizing year. A killing virus, multiple fires and hurricanes, shuttered businesses, financial insecurities, social and political unrest, uncertainty about everything.
I am so pleased to see you back on Medium and am thrilled you joined my challenge and with such historic photos. Your documentation of the birth of the fires and their devastating effects on the environment are a testament to the horrors many are experiencing now.
As the saying goes: When it rain, it pours. You experienced that personally and we are all experiencing it on a global and soul level.
Then, you took the bad and gave it a splash of good. Family and limoncello and looking for silver linings.
