Goodness, Larry, I am not trying to solve all the problems of the world or even just those in our country in one post! Nor do I have all the answers. These problems are extremely complex. I was simply stating my observations and what I think, in a very general way, is an over-all solution.
I average 50 to 65 hours of work a week. I am not one of the affluent or elite, but I take my responsibility to society seriously. I do what I can personally, but there is little I can do with the hours I work and the help I give to my own family — such as helping to raise two grandchildren whose father is one of the more affluent and who manages to hide his income and pay no taxes or child support. I have my hands full. As an individual, I can do little to help those outside my daily realm. However, collectively, I can do much. Paying taxes to help others is the most efficient way I can help.
I have neither the time nor desire to engage in one of your endless Medium arguments. And, I will not justify your question about whether or not we deserve to live longer than people in 1900. In fact, I don’t even have words to address such an outlandish statement.
Perhaps, your time is best spent examining your biases and prejudices.
