Had my own 6-year experience with insomnia, Ré. So debilitating. I know stress started it but have no idea what stopped it. Sometimes OTC sleep aids help but sometimes not.
Now, I have the occasional night when sleep refuses to visit until several hours deep into the night. I’m okay if I can manage 6 hours of snooze. I can barely get by with five. Anything less and I am a zombie.
The one thing that has helped the most is having my husband softly stroke my head, especially just above my forehead. Don’t know your personal situation but if you have someone available to do that it may help. Actually read an article a while back that confirmed that the sensitivity of the head and scalp can help induce sleep.
