Here in the U.S., we are experiencing similar controversies with Civil War monuments and buildings named after Civil War heroes, slave owners, and other racist people in history. It's complicated, for sure. I think public spaces should not be named for those who represented hate and division, and any statues commemorating a controversial war should be in one location, not scattered about to upset the general public. If you want to learn about the war, go to a specific park or museum. That way history is maintained but hate isn't glorified.
