Hey, Kris, I just noticed that your piece was published earlier, probably on your own page, on August 27th. Posts in publications appear in order of their original publication date. So, this piece isn’t showing up on the Weeds & Wildflowers page, except under the Archive at the bottom. W&W holds 17 posts on its front page. I publish 3 to 5 pieces a day so the oldest publication date showing is September 25th.

So, in the future, make sure you submit a piece as a draft — do not publish. I do the publishing. Follow these steps:

Write your piece

Click on the 3 dots in the upper right-hand corner of the page

Choose Add to Publication

Choose Weeds & Wildflowers

Hit Select & Continue

Hit Ready to Submit at top right

Choose your tags

Hit the green Submit to Publication button

If you follow these steps, I will receive the draft of your piece and when I publish, it will remain as the top story on the Weeds & Wildflowers page until I publish another story when it will move to the first spot underneath the new piece. I try to allow at least 4 hours for each published piece to be in the top spot before posting a new submission.

When I was new on Medium, publishing then submitting was one of my frequent mistakes. It takes a while to get used to the system. Let me know if you have any questions.

If you want to recreate your poem and submit as a draft, that would be the easiest way to solve the problem. I can then publish and it will be at the top of the W&W page.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
