Hi, Rosalind.J. Lee! Thank you for inquiring about Weeds & Wildflowers. I read some of your work and really like it. You are a perfect fit for W&W and I will add you as a writer after I finish this response.
I think your stories are creative and quite lovely. I am more than willing to publish them here but am concerned that a continuing story posted in individual pieces won’t get enough attention on W&W. People forget what they read previously if the pieces are published several days or even a week apart. Someone else posted a 4 o5 part story on W&W without much response. Perhaps, creating a series on your own page would be better?
I see you are new to Medium so pardon me if I tell you something you already know, but if you look under your writing options, there is one called Series. Although I haven’t used Series personally, I know many have posted continuing stories as a Series on their page. Something to explore.
Also, you’ve already published the first two parts on your page. Anything submitted to a publication that was published before will be published by its original date. So, if you publish a piece on your page on, for example, November 1st and then submit it to W&W (or any other publication) and it's published on Nov 10, your piece will show up on the W&W page in date order. Meaning anything published from November first to the 10th will appear before your submission. Your piece gets lost and spends no time in the heading spot where it gets the most attention. If enough publications occurred before yours, it may not be on the page at all and will only show up under Archive. There is no way to change that.
So, if you want to submit a series to W&W, I suggest starting with a new group as you have already published 2 “chapters” in your current series.
Think about the series situation and let me know. Meanwhile, send me poetry!! Your poetry is so full of nature and the earth and the changing of seasons — perfect for W&W.
Be sure you submit a draft. Do not publish first and then submit or we will have the date order problem. I know a lot of this can be confusing and it took me months to figure it all out when I joined Medium three years. Feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to help.
So happy to have you joining our garden!
