Honestly, Clay, I’d rather avoid winter weather up north. That trip was an anomaly. We usually go to NYC in the fall when the weather is pleasantly cool.

The holiday festivities were wonderful but, at least for me, dampened by the cold weather. I was physically miserable a good portion of the time.

Yes, you can get last-minute hotel deals. I booked that room the night before. Probably a cancelation or an unsold room that the hotel offered at a fire sale rate. As I recall, we paid $140 for a room that is normally $210 to $250 per night depending on the time of year. It was a very spacious, especially by Manhattan standards, and comfortable room. Of course, waiting to the last minute also means no guarantees you’ll find something! But, I did get another such deal on a room in the Financial District a couple of years later.

How funny to think we were there when you were performing. And, how exciting for you to be in that show! You’ve certainly had a fascinating life!

And, Merry Christmas to you!
