Honestly, I didn’t know it was a recognized condition! My former son-in-law may fall into that diagnosis along with many others. He jumped on the wagon of every health fad that came along and forced my daughter and their children to eat the same. My daughter, when she was a new mother, would drive across town from their apartment to order something she was wanting — maybe fries or a hamburger or Starbucks coffee — then bring the “forbidden” food to my house to eat. She’d then brush her teeth before returning home so her husband wouldn’t know. It was bonkers. Funny thing is that she was a healthy eater but as soon as he’d forbid this or that, she’d begin to crave it. He insisted on organic food even though they were often behind in paying their rent and utility bills!
For years, the only starchy food he allowed was rice. Then, he read some fad book about potatoes and insisted on boiled potatoes — and only potatoes — for two meals each day.
I’ve been a vegetarian since 1988. My son-in-law, however, thought vegetarianism was extreme and used to lecture me on the evils of my diet.
I sure don’t miss that guy!
