How true! Our society commands and demands that black women be stronger, braver, and bolder than everyone else. How many black women rise to the additional challenges, as if motherhood is not enough, of being father, breadwinner, encourager, protector, and enforcer? How many do more than most, which is never enough? How many give all and receive little? How many live in the shadows while trying to raise children in the light? How many are vilified for asking for help with pride tucked away, wanting only to survive and raise children to thrive? Black women are everyday heroes - every damn day.
