I agree with Sherry Kappel. But, unlike many of you, I don’t write to build readership. Sure, I like claps and comments as much as anyone but I am not here for the numbers. I feel I have built a family on Medium — not a huge, global family but a comfortable, supportive group. I’d rather have 5 meaningful responses and 100 claps from my tribe than 100 responses and 2,000 claps from random people. But, that’s me. This platform is by far the best I’ve experienced and it provides what I want.

With that said, I can understand the frustration and anger of those who expect more from Medium. But, hell if I know what can be done! That doesn’t mean I am not interested or supportive of good solutions or alternatives. I definitely want to be kept in the loop. I may not be the problem solver but I’ll be a cheerleader for anyone who has a better idea.

Many that Zev tagged are part of my Medium family and I want them, including Zev, to be happy and productive here. I want them to feel appreciated and validated so they remain part of this amazing group of creatives.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
