I also love the book, Lindsay, but found that the morning pages practice didn’t work for me. I am not a morning person, and even when I rise early due to work and other responsibilities, I struggle to get going. So, I changed morning pages to night pages and had great success with them. In fact, I found that night pages allowed me to process and express all the crap of the day before trying to sleep. It was cathartic.
But, after a couple of months of night pages, my daughter and her small children moved in with us. My daughter’s job had shift work. Her schedule could be anytime from 6:30 am to 11:30 pm and I was child-keeper when she was working and I was not. With a three and one year old to feed, entertain, bathe, and get to sleep, my night pages fell by the wayside.
And, that is okay. Not every practice is meant to be practiced forever. Maybe I will begin my night pages again some day — not now but someday . . .
