I always call him when I am leaving but, as you guessed, I am no more than 5 minutes away in daytime traffic, about 3 minutes after 6:30. Sometimes he has something prepared that only needs to be heated. But, truly, cooking for both of us is a confusing chore. Besides, my strange and unpredictable hours, Ben is a diabetic and a meat-eater and I am a vegetarian! He has to eat regular meals; I eat whenever.
When the grandkids were here, it was easier. Ben and our grandson ate whatever meat-based entrees Ben prepared and my granddaughter and I ate the vegetarian entrees.
It’s hard enough to cook for two and really challenging to cook for two with such different diets. He does his best but more and more we are relying on restaurants and microwave.
