I am honored that I crossed your mind today, The Solitary Cook! We went to the local meat shop this morning, and my husband purchased nearly $100 of different cuts. As a vegetarian, I know nothing about his purchase but plan to post a photo of the meat with a list of the cuts on my weekly blog.
Our guest of honor, who was supposed to arrive from China two days ago, had a 12 hour layover in San Francisco that resulted in her passport, visa, and bank cards being stolen. Fortunately, there is a Chinese consulate in SF, and she finally received her replacement documents today and will arrive tomorrow. Her situation created a fair amount of concern and stress for us especially since this “feast” is for her!
In the meanwhile, my husband caught a nasty cold from our grandson so we were wondering if he will even be able to cook this weekend. Fortunately, his health is improving and he feels confident he will be well enough. He MUST be since I know nothing about grilling meat!
And, our third concern is the weather. After weeks and weeks of a drought, rain is predicted for Sunday. We do not have a shelter for the grill so it will be open to the elements. Right now, rain is predicted to end around noon. Should that hold true, we will be okay. If not, who knows what we will do?? I have been searching for one of those easy-to-put-up-and-take-down pavilions or umbrellas but even here in Florida, the stores have replaced garden/patio items with Christmas. No luck.
Hoping all comes together well for Sunday. Will keep you posted!
