I am so pleased you enjoyed my story, Michelle.
My husband’s mom was a warm and welcoming woman who always felt like a mother to me. And, she has a heck of a cook! Oh, how I miss visiting her in NJ. Her apartment was so tiny but so warm and homey, always full of great aromas and lovely music.
We used to entertain often, pre-Covid, too. Captain Argentina loves music, sings while he cooks, and interprets his favorite tangos for me. He is in his element with a houseful of people waiting eagerly for his culinary creations.
There used to be an active Argentine community here, too, but after the main ringleader passed from cancer several years back, no one continued planing get-togethers. At the time, we were busy helping to raise two grandchildren and couldn't assume the responsibility. Now, everyone has drifted apart. Of course, in the current pandemic, gatherings wouldn’t be possible anyway.
Seems like we are all waiting for an elusive normal that may never return.
