I didn’t cry for the last two shootings — until now. I needed to cry but couldn’t. Not that I am numb to the shootings, not that the sheer number of them has hardened me — no, because I feel like if I start crying I may never stop. Too many news reports make me feel that way. Or, that I’ll get so angry that I can’t function. Too many news reports make me feel that way, too.

I cried as I read this, Sherry — the cry I needed. Now I am angry — the anger I needed.

WHY?
