I don't disagree with you, Jim. LGBTQ+ Catholics cannot depend on the Church and its representatives to buck the status quo. Bottom line is that the Church is a business and priests and nuns are employees. And, there is the issue that many of those employees are closeted LGBTQ+ who chose a religious life to hide and/or combat their truths. But, in a very few instances, the clergy in a particular church will be tolerant and even welcoming to LGBTQ+ believers, although they obviously cannot be vocal about that acceptance.
Personally, it boggles my mind that anyone wants to be a member of a faith that doesn't accept them and publicly vilifies them. But, for those who choose to hold tight to their faith, they may be able to find a Catholic congregation that will welcome. It is those individuals who must work to change the Church, although that is a monumental job.
