I don’t have a 3D reading experience as you describe it, Jack, although I can get lost in a book, losing time and a certain amount of awareness but that is not unusual for most readers. My unusual experience is post-reading. When I am enthralled with a book, especially its characters, I think deeply about them when I’m not reading. I imagine their lives outside the confines of their written story. These musings are so encompassing that I forget what I am doing at the moment — often coming back to the present to discover I did an hour of work without being aware of what I was doing. My world ceases to exist when I enter theirs. I know many people who do that while reading but few who have such an immersion experience after reading.
