I got a photo of the gator that got the ducks but, at the time he was in a drainage ditch, and the picture was grainy and not very good. I also got a photo of the gator I saw in our lake last year, but he was so far away that the only way to tell he was a gator was to zoom in - not ideal for publishing. There have been two or three gators that I found out about after they were trapped.
The city will trap the ones in manmade ponds in subdivisions, like the one where the ducks lived, but our lake is natural and much larger. A gator here needs to be a true threat to warrant being trapped. And I get that. Unfortunately, our natural lake is linked to the drainage ditches and all the other ponds - manmade and natural. They just go from place to place, avoiding capture.
