I have a granddaughter I haven't met, Barbara. I see her on video calls but my arms long to hold her. I miss that new baby smell that's gone now.
My older grandchildren are so different. Video calls don't capture the subtleties that in-person time does. Like you wrote, we sometimes don't know what to talk about. Well, the kids and me. My daughter and I are talking more than ever, closer than we've been in years.
I think all of this would be easier if we could just see an end-date - a time when we can be normal again.
