I have often felt the same about you, Kathy!
Regarding sisters and family, I don’t have to agree on many things but the big issues make a difference. For example, I know that two of my sisters voted for Trump. Although the distance in our relationships occurred years before the election, that knowledge would certainly have broken any weak relationships we may still have had if we were in contact. However, we parted ways for less well-defined reason than politics! Just an overall disinterest and, on my part, feeling there was no reciprocation for interest, feelings, family obligations, etc. The old one-way street problem. Seemed my car could drive north but their cars could never drive south. I could attend showers, weddings, graduations, baby births but they couldn’t. We lived in different worlds and the bridges between those worlds seemed only to allow traffic in one direction. Such is life . . .
