I learned to eat fiddleheads while living in Maine, where they were popular.

In the meantime, we are seeing signs everywhere of the unfurling of the season. The ferns are sending up their shoots, called fiddleheads because of their shape. They are supposed to taste like asparagus, but I will refrain from eating them because I want the ferns to unfold and decorate the forest floor.
