I loved to dance back in the days when partners didn’t touch one another! My husband is from Argentina and wanted me to learn tango — FYI, the everyday tango in Argentina is different than the stylized version we know. I took several lessons and failed miserably. Perhaps, age and chronic back problems had something to do with my failure but I honestly believe it was the feminist in me who could abide having to follow a man, letting him lead me around the floor while I did the hardest steps. Tango became a feminist issue for me.
Only dancing I’ve done since is in the living room with my grandchildren. I don’t have to follow any man when the kids and I dance!!
