Yes, we are spoiled here. Despite all the bitching and moaning, Medium is a great platform for writing.

You learned the truth - writing in the real word is damn hard and pays little.

I have great empathy for those trying to make a living doing this, and I am grateful I am not in that position. Sure, the bit I make on Medium is nice - if not for the pandemic, a decent dinner out, but no more than that. And, I am fine with what I receive doing something for which I never expected payment.

What I gain here is people like you - your stories and our chit-chat. Multiply that by dozens and I am very satisfied.

But, I know I am privileged to be earning a decent living from other sources. Medium is my playground, not my workplace. Big difference with otthe needs of others.
