I think mosquitos are getting worse in many areas of the world because of climate change, Anne. Of course, mosquitos are common here. On a family houseboat trip on the St. John's River, we were inundated with mosquitos. We couldn't even open a window at night to get fresh air because the little buggers would worm their ways through the screens!

That lake is so peaceful - other than the mosquitos! I can imagine floating on it was very relaxing. And, I agree, baby swans should be called swanlings! Cygnets is a horrible word. certainly not befitting a creature as lovely as a swan.
