I think the meaning attributed to certain animals is fascinating, whether true or not. When I was going through a very difficult and stressful time in my life, hawks appeared around me time and time again, usually at an extremely anxious time. It was freaky — hawks in parking lots, on top of buildings, on fences and light poles, one on a car, one on a mailbox, one dive-bombed my car at a stop light!
A friend suggested I look up the meaning of hawks and I found this (from: http://www.spiritanimal.info/hawk-spirit-animal/):
“Hawk spirit animals invite us to be focused in our daily undertakings. When you feel the presence of the hawk totem, avoid distractions and focus on the task at hand.
At the same time, hawks can soar and fly high in the sky. This animal has the power to provide support in gaining a higher level perspective on any issue or project you undertake. When the hawk appears in your life, it’s perhaps time to be less distracted by the details and focus on the higher perspective. Relying on the hawk power, you can see what’s ahead clearly and defy any obstacles that may be on your way. A specific way the hawk guidance works is to use a high level and yet clear and focused vision to guide your action.”
Whether any of that is true or not, I followed the advice. I focused on my daily tasks, not obsessing over the larger problems. My ordeals and problems became smaller as solutions became clearer. I worried less. My anxiety disappeared.
Once resolutions were in place, the hawks stopped showing up everywhere!
Ever since, when an animal continually appears around me, I look up its spiritual meaning. Most of the time, the message does seem to apply to my life at that time. Sometimes, not. Either way, it’s always interesting!
