I, too, have 3 dogs but they are smaller than yours — Pekingese, Lhasa Apso, and Lhasa Poo — and I have a retired husband who does more than half the walking. Ours also can’t be walked together because the Peke is 15 and can’t walk fast or too far or for too long. The others are very active 10-year-olds who can handle two miles easily and prefer a faster pace. When I am available, I walk the younger dogs and my husband takes the old guy. When I am working, he takes the two girls first, although he keeps the distance at one mile or less, and then takes the Peke.
We also have two cats and two guinea pigs. Finding a pet sitter so we can go on vacation is a challenge, to say least!
Your dogs are lovely and my heart broke to read about the one that was attacked. With small dogs and living in an area where pit bulls and large dogs are prevalent, I live in fear of loose dogs. Just last week, I was walking the two girls at noon and a police car stopped to warn me that two large dogs were running loose in the neighborhood and recommended that I go home as soon as possible. Fortunately, the dogs were caught an hour later. I carry pepper spray and a loud horn-in-a-can with me when we walk.
The joy they give us is worth the walks and costs, though!
