I was born in 1954 and read constantly as a child but do not recall these books, Amanda. I was raised on the East Coast so perhaps they weren't as popular on this side of the country.

Dr. Seuss stoked my love for reading when I was six. Later, I read every Nancy Drew mystery book. We lived in a rural area where there was no library open during the summer. Each May, my father let me order dozens of books from the Weekly Reader publisher, enough to carry me through the summer.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
