I was contemplating this same subject yesterday. A month ago I committed to writing every day and ever since I’ve noticed a difference in my attention, what I think about, what I notice. Chunks of time seem to disappear, but when analyzed, I discover those missing chunks were time spent in contemplation, thinking about words and stories, trying to fit something I see or hear into a future story, or figuring out what my next writing project will be. Not lost time at all, but time re-appropriated, time homed in a different place, time re-dedicated and redefined.

I was always a writer but lived in a bookkeeper’s body before I found Medium and broke free — well, almost. Working to work less and write more.
