I was never the photographer model type — physically, emotionally or mentally. My physical changes with age haven’t been that difficult to accept. In many ways, I always felt older than I was. A childhood horseback riding injury left me with aches and pains long before they would normally have appeared. But, I know aging is traumatic for many people, especially women.
I work with women over 55 who lament that they can no longer comfortably wear spikey high heels. And, some continue to do so even though they can barely walk by the end of the day! I never was interested in that type of fashion and proudly wear my Bob’s and Tom’s that help, not hurt, my back and don’t pinch my toes or torture my ankles!
Aging is interestingly individual — we each do it our own way — some kicking and screaming, some dragging feet, some embracing the inevitable.
