I would greatly enjoy those stories, White Feather. Names are often shackles. I believe children should be given temporary names that can be changed without cost or negative consequences when they reach the age of twelve. And, women should always be able to reclaim their maiden names for any reason without cost.
My grandson carries the heavy burden of his father’s name. A line of masculine names that should never have continued. The name of a father who is not in his life. At the age of 8, he asked me if I could help him change his name. Even if my daughter and I could have come up with the almost $500 in fees, he could not legally change his name without his father’s permission which will never happen. This is not a healthy way to start life.
