Interestingly, most people fear "how" they will die, more than the actual act of dying, Elisabeth. Hence, all preparations for death offer little solace. The "how" is the unknown that strikes fear in most.
My mother-in-law was 95 and had seen two of her 8 children pass before her when she decided it was time for her to go. She just willed herself to die, and she did. Her only health issue was diabetes and that was under control. Nothing "killed" her, as such, she simply decided it was time. She spent her life caring for others, doing what others needed and wanted, but in the end, she took control. I admired her for that.
