It's I Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult. It takes place during the early months of the pandemic when NYC was locked down. The story is like nothing I've read before. I guess I overstated the email part because it was really about one-sided communication due to the pandemic and where the main character is located. Texts, phone calls, and FaceTime chats are also part of it. But, the main story is a about a relationship, the pandemic, and waking up to new chances.
