Jack, I consider our relationship with various animals — pets and wild — to be somewhat like those who engage in extreme sports — you know there is a danger and you take it anyway. We know our hearts will, sooner or later, be broken. We know we will deal with adjustments, poop and pee, illness, and, eventually, death. But, we also consider the benefits of having these incredible creatures in our lives and decide the risks are worth it. Love outweighs loss — always.
