Jack, we had foxes at different times during the 7 years we've lived here. Even had fox pups playing on our patio one night. But they never harmed anything. We never smelled fox urine. They nested in wooded areas. I mostly saw them at in the late evening, at night, or around dawn, but I did spot them a few times during the day.

The thing I most worried about were the neighborhood cats - some feral, some indoor/outdoor cats - and the ducks. I saw evidence near a fox den of a dead squirrel and a bird, but I couldn't identify what kind of bird it was.
