Work is so busy that yesterday and today have slipped passed with barely a notice from me. The weather has thankfully remained pleasant. The cloud cover was mostly constant with temperatures ranging from low 50’s to 80 degrees, all very acceptable. Cold weather zaps my energy reserves, and I am grateful for these balmy winter days.
Typically my clients’ daily work decreases in January giving me time to attack the annual demands of the Internal Revenue Service. This year is different. The flow of work each day is much greater than in years past. I am forced to work later in the evenings and put in even longer hours on the weekends to deal with the year-end drudgery. The only upside to this overload is that I am missing most the national news (I allow myself to read only a few political articles on Medium each week and avoid every other source of news as much as possible). I can, most of the time, bury the truth of the vile man that will soon be our president. If I allow myself to consider the frightening situation our country faces, my emotions will interfere with all I need to accomplish in a very short time. Right now, staying disconnected from the current news is my only option. I wish I could attend marches and protests but there are not enough hours. Only in spirit and financially can I help those who are fighting to save our country.
